Beach Day

“At the beach we went in the rockpools.  All the kids were getting wet beause they were in the water.  We found some sea animals and we made some animals out of sand.  We had playlunch and it was HOT AS so we had a drink of water.  I enjoyed the day at the beach because it was fun to be with my friends.  When we got back to school we had an icypole and I was cold.”

On Tuesday FEPS went to Canadian Bay in Mount Eliza.  We go there every year to explore rockpools.  We try to find creatures and plants like seaweed, crabs and starfish.  I foound my first crab, but I never said it was alive. The beach day a few weeks ago got cancelled from cold weather but yesterday it was 37 degrees.  It felt nice standing in the water for a couple of minutes.

After exploring for about an hour and 45 minutes, we went to have some playlunch, then we went back to the bus.  When we got back to school we were lucky to have icypoles.  But when I got home I had a bad headache.

Beach day was fun apart from getting sand in my shoes.  It was giving me blisters.  Anyway, I still loved it.  I saw lots and lots of sea snails and alive and dead crabs.  It was really hot!.  It felt slippery on the rocks.  I slipped on one of the rocks and splashed!!  All of my clothes got wet.  When we got back to school we got ICYPOLES!

Parris Grade 3

On Tuesday 12th of March FEPS went to Canadian Bay in Mt Eliza.  We left at 9.30 to go to the beach.  The weather was extremely hot

When we got to Canadian Bay we got organised and then walked over to the rock pools.  There were lots of rockpools.  There were lots of sea animals like crabs, starfish and little eels.

My favourite part was when Ben showed me a giant cab bigger than my palm.  It was as big as!

We also had recess at Canadian Bay.  Then after we finished our food we went back on the bus back to school.

When we were back at school we had icypoles.  It was so refreshing.  I had so much fun.

Keanu Grade 4

On the 12th of March at 9.30am we went to the rockpools at Canadian Bay in Mt Eliza and I found a live crab that almost bit me.  I also found a black sea snail.  When we got back to school we got an icypole. My favourite part of the day was finding a crab.

Riley Grade 3

On Tuesday 12th March the whole school went to the beach.  We went to Canadian Bay, Mount Eliza.  At the beach it was 35 degrees, it was really HOT!  We travelled by bus.

We looked for sea creatures, some of the sea creatures were crabs, sea stars, shells and sea snails.  The whole school had a lot of fun.  Some of us had a look at the different types of seaweed.  Most of us dug our feet in the sand but it was very hot.  We ran across the boiling hot sand and splashed our feet in the nice refreshing water. We stopped and had a break and had some snack.  Then we had to go back to school.  When we got back to school we watched Finding Nemo and had icy poles.  I had an orange one.  They were yummy.

We want to Skype our way around Australia

Our class just loves Skype.  Our teacher, Mrs Hazzledine has set us a challenge!  We are trying to Skype our way around Australia to help us to learn about our country, States, cities and environments.  If you would like to help us in our challenge please complete your details in the Google form below. If you are not from Australia but would like to Skype with us, we would love to Skype with you too!

Making Pancakes

On Friday we celebrated a belated Shrove Tuesday.  All of the grade 3/4 students got together and worked with Miss Smith in her Masterchef kitchen.  The students had to measure out, make, stir and cook their pancakes.  Some students pancakes ended up rather large!  Take a look at our pictures.

Mystery Skype Call

On Thursday 7 February we made a mystery skype call to another school.  We had to guess where they were from by asking closed questions that had a yes or a no answer.    We found out the school we were talking to were from Horsham West Primary School.

We asked them questions about their school and they asked us questions about our school.  We found out that at their school they had about 55 teachers, 8 playgrounds, and 550 students.  They had 24 classes.  Their school was a lot bigger than our school because we have 12 teachers, 3 playgrounds and and 195 kids.  We only have 9 classes.

We have decided to take photos of our schools and we will share them with each other.

We had loads of fun and hope to do another Mystery Skype again.

If you would like to have a Mystery Skype or a general  Skype with us please leave us a comment asking and our teacher will contact you to arrange it.

Have you ever done a Mystery Skype call before?

Skype call to South Carolina USA.

On Wednesday the 12th of December 2012, both

3/4 grades got together and skyped a after

school care (study group is what it is called in

America). We skyped them once but they didn’t

answer us the first time so the second time we

called them and they answered us. 🙂

They asked us a few questions like-

Whats your favourite food? Alot of people said

lollies but tey didn’t know what lollies were,

because in America they call it candy.

Another question they asked was-

Whats your favourite celebration?

People said Christmas, Birthdays, Easter and

some said Australian day. 🙂

Another question they asked was Whats your

favourite Christmas food?

Some people said turkey some said candy canes.

And one last question they asked was where do

you live?

We said Australia, Melbourne and Frankston. 😀

After a few question we started to talk about our

Christmas carols. We told them that we have ours

and asked is they had one they said they did 🙂

They sung us a song called Jingle bells and we

sung them our Christmas song, our class 3/4B had

to go first our song we sung was called Rocking

around the Christmas tree. The other 3/4 class

sung their Christmas song called when Santa

was a boy. They also clapped for us Hehe, 🙂

After that we ended the call and started our

Celebration Day ! 🙂

Food Research Projects

All the clever students in 3/4B have been busy researching a food.  First the students had to decide what food they wanted to research.  Then they had to come up with questions they wanted to find the answers to.  After they had these questions they began their research.  Some students looked at books and others gathered information off the internet.  Once they had found answers to their questions students either typed their questions and answers up into a word document or neatly hand wrote the information.  Once this was done they decided how to present their research, some chose to create posters while others made booklets.  Finally, each student had to present their research to the class while Mrs Hazzledine video’d them.  Below is a snippet of 6 student’s research presentation.  Hopefully you will enjoy watching it.

Healthy Food Facts – From reading to poster!

Grade 3/4B are looking at healthy food.

During literacy on Tuesday we read “Good to Eat” in groups.

We looked at facts in the book about Water, Vitamins and Minerals, Carbohydrates, Protein and Fat.  Once we had read the book we needed to find and write the facts down in our own words.

After our drafts were checked we wrote our facts neatly and created a poster.

Our posters needed healthy bodies.

We are all proud of our posters!!

Caribbean Gardens

A couple of weeks ago all the grade 3/4 students went to the Caribbean Gardens.   Below is a report written by Julia explaining what can be found at the Caribban Gardens.

The Caribbean Gardens is a market and garden at Stud Road, Scoresby.

The Caribbean Gardens has a tank, playground, train, Japanese Garden, Café, Chairlift and more!! There is also some big cars and ladders to climb on (not real cars and ladders).

In the market there are stores that sell clothes, snap backs, slap bands, footy items and basketballs/footballs set on tables all around the market.

The Japanese Garden has a huge lily pond. It’s very beautiful. There is a mini fountain in the middle of the lily pond twisting around.

On the playground there are two hang gliders, a little high hideout, a ladder, and a slide.

There is also a tank to climb on. It has a missile shooter (it doesn’t work), a huge chain on a huge wheel, a porthole and others.

Superclubs – Mystery HotSeat

Yesterday we had the chance to talk to two footy players on Superclubs.  They were Jordan and Stephan from the Melbourne footy club.

We got our books and got to work writing GOOD questions for the players.  Then when our 15 minutes ended we went down on the floor and Mrs Hazzledine told us to stand up.  So we did and we played a game!  We had our books in our hands then we had to pick a person to tell a question for Mrs Hazzledine to write on the board.  If all our questions were asked, or we asked a question that had been asked already we had to sit down.

We ended up with twenty questions.  Mrs Hazzledine posted them onto the hot seat because we were in PE during the Hot Seat time.

Below are the questions we posted which were answered:
