Basketball Clinic

On Thursday 28th February we had a basketball clinic.  The man who came to teach us was Chuck.  Chuck is a player for the Frankston Blues.  He came from 11.00 to 11.30 and played a few games with us.  The first game we played was a little bit weird, we had to stand in a circle and Chuck would throw the ball at us and if he said “drop it” we had to catch it and if he said “catch it” we had to drop it.  It was really hard but in the end we had our final two.  Our last two were Isobel and Jerell.  Chuck confused both of them but in the end we had our winner … Isobel.  After that we played another game.  Chuck called out 3 point line, half court, base line or side line and we had to run to them.  In the end Bethany and I were the last ones left and we were on the base line and Chuck called … BASE LINE.  I sprinted my butt off to the half court!!!

Superclubs – Mystery HotSeat

Yesterday we had the chance to talk to two footy players on Superclubs.  They were Jordan and Stephan from the Melbourne footy club.

We got our books and got to work writing GOOD questions for the players.  Then when our 15 minutes ended we went down on the floor and Mrs Hazzledine told us to stand up.  So we did and we played a game!  We had our books in our hands then we had to pick a person to tell a question for Mrs Hazzledine to write on the board.  If all our questions were asked, or we asked a question that had been asked already we had to sit down.

We ended up with twenty questions.  Mrs Hazzledine posted them onto the hot seat because we were in PE during the Hot Seat time.

Below are the questions we posted which were answered:

Basketball Clinic

Last Tuesday for PE we had a Basketball Clinic with the Frankston Blues.

First we did excercises by dribbling with our left and right hand.  Then we were seperated into two teams with each person given a number.  If the Frankston Blues player said your number you had to run and grab the basketball.  The team who grabbed the basketball got a point and the team with the most points won.

Track Tryouts!

Every Friday the Grade 3-6’s have sport.  The training coach, Mr O’Shannasy, trained the 12 year old first.  The next week he trained the 11 year olds, then the 10 year olds.  Next week he will train the 9 year olds.  Once Mr O has looked at all age groups he will pick the team.  When Mr O picks the team he’ll choose if your doing 800m running, 200m running, 70m running, 100 m running or the 80m hurdles.

If you are picked for Mr O’s team you will have to do lots of training.
